Q: What are the benefits of home networking and home automation?
A: According to CEDIA Members and industry research, those who have integrated homes or are interested in integrating technology into their home view these systems as a way to save time and spend more quality time with their families. Most customers invest in home electronic systems for the benefits, not for the sake of owning technology.

A: CEDIA Members are on the cutting-edge of technology and develop systems that are practical and pragmatic for today’s homeowners and can take advantage of new innovations as they come to market. CEDIA Members stay at the forefront of industry trends and up-and-coming technology through continuing education and professional development as well as networking with leading manufacturers at industry events. This up-to-date knowledge allows them to deliver technology that will not only merge seamlessly with the client’s existing lifestyle but will also provide convenience, security, and entertainment for years to come.
Q: What is the difference between an electrician and an electronic systems technician from Smart Southern Homes?
A: The residential electronic systems industry requires well-trained and knowledgeable electronic systems technicians who can install both wireless and wired applications and can integrate these systems to work through a single control device. Electronic systems technicians
have specialized skills including computer programming, systems interfacing, acoustical expertise and video calibration. The
proliferation of electronics products and systems has prompted the U.S. Department of Labor to recognize electronic systems technicians
as a separate profession in the 21st Century Workforce Initiative.

Q: At what point during the building process does Smart Southern Homes fit in?
A: Our wiring technicians come in after your electrician and plumber have finished. Depending on the size and capacity needs of your home, a typical structured wiring job including all of your voice, data, video, audio, security and smoke detection infrastructure takes 2 – 3 days.
Q: What is structured wiring, how is it different from the standard method of wiring and what are the benefits of Smart Southern Homes wiring the way for my home?
A: Structured wiring is a type of wiring method for all of your low voltage wiring – voice/phone, data, computer networks, internet, audio, video and security. All of these wires are ran directly and independent to a “head end” location pre-determined in your home then managed in a rack or wall panel, depending on the amount of wires. They are then connected here to all of your equipment.Structured Wiring racks and panels were developed as a means to centralize and organize the miles of Cables and individual System Panels required to distribute Multi-Room TV, Camera Video, Phone Service, Multi-Room Audio, and PC Network & Internet services, to each room in a home. Structured wiring takes the concept of structured cabling, as practiced in demanding commercial applications, and combines it with multimedia.
Structured Wiring enclosures and racks vary in size; plan on a wall area of no less than 4' high by 4' wide for the Panel and Cables in a service area such as a garage, attic, or basement. The Structured Wiring method of distribution is best suited to new construction when the walls are still "open", however it is still a viable solution for an existing home that offers access to the desired rooms via an attic or basement.
Structured Wiring future-proofs your new home two ways. The first is by installing multimedia outlets where you need them today, as well as, where you'll want them as your needs and technologies change. The second is through the versatility and adaptability of a structured wiring system.
